I recently purchased the Hoodman eyecup for my Canon 50D and it fits perfectly as is. The trick (as often is the case:) is to follow the instructions!
As you begin to slide the eyecup onto the camera, you must tilt the top of the eyecup slightly towards the camera (assuming you are facing the rear of the camera), which moves that little plastic lip that everyone is shaving off slightly away from the eyepiece mount. Continue pushing downward until it stops and let go. Snap! It's in place, and more securely than if you've shaved off the lip. To remove it from the camera, just gently pull the bottom lip away from the camera and push upward.

Had to trim off some of the plastic on both side to get it to fit on camera, works well after that but, would not even come close to fitting, before the trim! If you are not aware of the issue, most people would send back or just pitch! The Camera I was trying to get it to fit on is a Canon 40D

It is a little challenge to fit the HoodEYE on your camera, but once attached it sits there firm. It covers very well your eye and helps concentrating and focusing on your subject. Unfortunately it does not go together with classes. I am far sighted so I could use it but then to verify my shot on the display I would need to put on my glasses again. 10 years ago before I needed glasses for reading and before the time of camera displays I would have loved the HoodEYE. But now it is not meant for me.

I purchased this product to replace the stock viewfinder hood of my 50D. I love it. You get a very good view with out the light creeping in and other distractions. The rubber is soft and flexible. The only negitive is that since it blocks out so much light the product covers some of the 3 inch display. I have not gotten into the habit of reviewing my view finder after each shot so when I do look at the LCD, I just bend the Hoodman out of the way. High Quality and Noticable Benefit.

The idea behind it is a logical one and it does work, but the difference between this and the original canon eyecup is very subtle. For $25 dlls I wouldn't buy it again...
