Textbooks - Homeschool Math Programs - electronic money?

I've never been a fan of Saxon Math. I have it in my first year homeschooling, as it was the best known and most recommended programs. If I had to do it again, I would never have to use Saxon. My children and I found it painful to slog through - it was felt a public school. Many extras, like the rules that had been covered. At least that's how I see the program.

Textbooks

In the early years (K-6), I prefer something like ABEK orHorizons to move and then turn the "key" to "strengthen fractions and decimals, and then move to the later books.

My reasons are that the early years (K-3) are to convey simply and easily, and have never been the point of exceeding a child with such problems and exercises on the basics of the practice seen (except for drilling the table multiplication ). Moreover, the difficulty of mathematics with things like long division, fractions, and increasesDecimal places, my children found their explanations and examples will suffice.

When my now 15-year-old son was 13 years old, I took the class textbook pre-algebra program. A Conference Board CD-ROM corresponding blank for each lesson in the manual. My son was able to understand most things without the help or explanation from me. I could not count how many times I've seen the math class and had to understand explanations to help my son.

Fortunately, with textbooks, there was little that at least much less than any other math program. I've also heard that my son very well prepared for the algebra class left has taken this year after the tenth class and is without problems.

It is true that educationThe textbook program is expensive. They could, however, a good deal on a program on E-bay will be used. In addition, I've always saved my money to buy expensive software when it matters, because we appreciate the extra help to high school mathematics difficult.

In short, forget the Saxon math curriculum for first graders $ 80.00 buy with all the trimmings, when not in use. Instead, save time, frustration and moneythe purchase of a high quality program, such as textbooks, on the road when you really need and appreciate.
