It was my first camcoder and I hesitated to buy after reading some reviews, but absolutely no problems mentioned in those reviews - whith batteries charging, lighting(good pictures inside buildings with relatively low light and even during a sunset), no any other problem in the video and sound quality. Very simple to use, small and light, comfortable for travel. What about accessories I bought HDMI cable (HDMI - mini-HDMI)for 5$ (thanks Amazon)and do not need anything else.
For me the software is a big piece (219 mb) of garbage, I use the another.
I did not expect a stabilization from the so cheap camcoder, but sure it would be better to have it.

I'm a videographer by trade and was lucky enough to acquire one of these little guys. I typically use some pretty bulky equipment, but I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and portability of the Flip. I even took it up Mt Rainier. (Google search "The Sear of Rainier" for sample footage. All footage was taken with this guy.)
I foresee this camera revolutionizing the HD digital camera industry. Talk about cheap (price-wise)!

The Flip HDUltra does a great job of capturing those family moments. The picture quality is great in high light, but low light offers quality similar to a vhs tape. The color quality is great and looks good in incandescent light but is very bluish under some flourescent lamps. Also the widescreen presentation is great for those with LCD/LED/Plasma TVs. The image seems stable most of the time, but the unit does come with a tripod attachment if you need help with camera shake. Flip makes a tripod for the unit, but I haven't used it.
I find the audio to be superb in the recordings. The mic is quite sensitive and can pick up noises from the operator though. The audio is rich and feels like it has a good dimension.
The software that comes with the camera does a lot of nice things like making movies or movie montages with background music. This feature is nice for making a video postcard to send to family and friends. You also have the option of uploading your videos to a secure viewing site for family and friends, we use this feature a lot.
The interface with the camera is simple and intuitive, but it offers few features to make adjustments. Also, the 2 hour recording time is fine for most situations. I wish it had a larger storage capacity though (4 hours would be ideal). Having the camera charge via the USB connection is a great idea in addition to using it to download your videos.
All said, this is a great entry level camera that will give you the results you want. I highly recommend this camera.

Video quality is good - not great. Major problem is that is doesn't allow you to flip video between north/south and east/west. I had to find a separate program that flips the video downloaded. Otherwise is great for the price, quality, and convenience.

Nice compact; takes a while to find video's etc but it is worth the money. Purchased two; one for home and one to capture the growth of the new twin grand children.
