 "Best value ever!!" 2009-09-10
By H. Bui (SoCal)
I have been telling people that this was one of the best products that I have bought in the past year (that including iPod, iPhone, Sony television,...) In term of value, it has few peers. It charges reasonably fast. It is portable, no power cord, making it so easy to keep one in your camera bag. You also get a connector that allows you to charge in your car too. How cool is that. It is what all chargers should be but not. All of that at bargain price!!

 "Nice extra charger" 2009-04-26
By Steven Brys (New Jersey, USA)
I bought this product because I wanted an inexpensive second charger, that also did not have a power cord to deal with. At $14, this charger is a great bargain. It has indicator lights to tell you that the product is charging (red light), and when it is done (green light). Charges quickly and fully. Took me 2 hours to fully charge my EN-EL3a but your results will vary depending on how much charging you need. Although I do not use it, you get a cord that allows you to charge in your car too. Not only does Nikon not make an equivalent product - ie a travel charger that plugs into the wall - but if they did, I am reasonably certain they would charge a lot more for it. Keep one in your bag. You won't regret it.

"Good charger but battery no longer made by Nikon..." 2009-03-24
By Lee H. Von Matsuyama (Pebble Beach, California United States)
The Charger works well. Charges the battery fairly fast, and its simple to operate. But the battery is no longer made by Nikon. If you want a battery it has to be an after Market battery.... So instead of paying lots of money for this Charger, a person is better off buying an after market unit...

 "great product and vendor" 2008-04-15
By Jean (TX)
After loosing my battery charger for my Nikon camera I found out that Nikon doesn't carry the original charger any more - very disappointing, since the camera is only a few years old. I tried several off-brand chargers which just did not give the battery any charge. Then I found the exact Nikon charger that I lost on Amazon through PCMonde and it works great.

This is the only charger I know of that will charge this Nikon battery. It works.

Update: the camera went berserk, and only takes pictures of a weird, alternate, psychedelic unreality. Gotta get that fixed.

By Paula M. Peabody (West Hartford, CT)
Looking to replace your lost or damaged battery charger? We bought a new camera and charged the battery. When it was time to recharge the battery we couldn't locate the charger...not wanting to spend the price to purchase the "Olympus replacement part" we opted for trying the INSTEN. Love it...works as well or better than the one that came with our camera. Murphy's Law, two days after receiving the INSTEN we located the original charger...we prefer and use the INSTEN to charge the battery.....no cord, just plugs into the wall outlet :)

 "Poor Quality" 2009-07-29
By L. Chen
Though this product looks exactly the same as the more expensive gorillapod made by Joby, it is clearly inferior. This was evident as soon as I received it in the mail. The unit feels very light and seems to be made from a lower grade or thinner plastic. The joints are very weak and do not stay in place very well unless the camera's weight is perfectly balanced by all three legs. I found myself readjusting the positioning constantly. The Joby's joints are much stiffer.

Having owned the original gorillapod I was looking for a cheap replacement when my Joby broke after 2 years of use. I thought I'd save some money by ordering this "flexpod" instead. HUGE mistake. It broke after one day. I'm not really sure what happened, I heard something snap while I was positioning my camera in portrait mode. Now the ball joint that connects to the three legs is no longer stiff enough to support the weight of my camera (a Lumix DMC-TZ5). Orientating my camera into landscape mode, it simply succumbs to gravity and then proceeds to fall over on its side. Luckily the tripod broke towards the end of my day so most of the shots that I needed it for had already been taken. Had it been any earlier in the day I would have been even more upset with myself for buying this piece of junk.

I'll save you the trouble of trying to rationalize this purchase. Currently its running around eight dollars including shipping. The original Gorillapod by Joby costs around eight dollars more, so twice as much. I bought this thinking, well if it's crap then I'm out eight bucks no big deal. Except for the fact that if it turns out to be crap then I'm also out whatever amount I spend to replace it. I'll likely want to get the REAL gorillapod and now I've spent twenty-four dollars in total (8+16=24).

If you're a stubborn person (or a gambler) you may choose to purchase the same crap product again hoping not to get a lemon this time. But guess what? You have now just spent the equivalent amount of money had you purchased the Joby in the first place (8+8=16). The only difference is that you now you have two crap tripods (one of them broken, and the other a ticking kodak moment ruining time bomb) instead of one fully functional tripod.

Imagine the following scenario which actually happened to me this past weekend. You're out in the middle of nowhere hours away from civilization, on a remote beach waiting to get a perfect shot of that glorious sunset you've been waiting for all day. Your tripod suddenly fails. How much would you pay to preserve the priceless memory of that moment? How much would you pay for a working tripod right then? If the answer is "more than eight dollars" give yourself a pat on the back and move on. If your answer is "less than eight dollars" then my followup question to you is: Why are you even bothering to purchase a tripod? Since you obviously don't care about taking decent photos.

Bottom line: You get what you pay for. Do yourself a favor, spend the extra money on a quality product and skip this piece of junk.

 "Works for Me" 2009-06-22
By Blue Dog (Colorado)
I bought this for my Creative Vado HD (3.5 ounces) and it works great. It can grip to many things and still support the weight of the Vado. I've also tried it with a heaver DMC-TZ5 Lumix camera (7.5 ounces) and didn't think the stand could safely support the weight in any configuration other than a basic tripod.

"Flexpod Flexible Tripod - Not Very Useful if You Have a slightly Heavier Camera" 2009-06-21
By bishop (Houston, TX USA)
Got this tripod for a travel workation that I had coming up. First, although I paid for a 2-day delivery, it arrived after 8 days so I couldn't take it on my trip. (The vendor, on complaining however, refunded the difference between the regular shipping and the standard shipping rates.)

The tripod itself is very lightweight and so suitable for pocket digital cameras weighing maybe less than 200gm or about half a pound. Since the product description did not mention this limit I ordered it for my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28, a slightly heavier camera. The tripod had difficulty maintaining position - specially if the legs were wound around a pole or a banister. The head would just droop in a couple of seconds rendering it completely worthless for my use. I just wish the vendor would have clarified this in their product description so that I hadn't wasted my time and money purchasing this product.

"Easy to use, excellent camera" 2009-10-12
By Christopher G. Staton (Near Memphis, TN)
I have this camera, in conjunction with an underwater housing for scuba diving. Takes excellent pics and is extremely easy to use. I also use it as a more portable backup to my Nikon D80 SLR digital. Recently went on vacation to Vegas, taking both cameras, after the first day, I stored the D80 and only used this cool pix and received many compliments on the quality of my images. No one could tell which pics were from the cool pix or from the D80. I will be buying at least one more of these as a backup in case mine fails..

I got my camera at Christmas from my in-laws and it's been a fabulous camera to carry around in my purse for those moments when you wish you had a camera. HOwever it's now September and the LCD screen has gone blank. I've been told I'd have to replace my screen components but that will be around $100 for parts and labor. Forget that! I think that's what my in-laws paid for the darn thing. Love my camera and am so bummed that it pooped out on me. I'm going to go buy another one and stay away from this particular camera in fear that it will happen again.

 "Worthless warranty" 2009-08-26
By S. Davis (Metairie, LA USA)
This camera was a decent camera with fairly good picture quality until like in many other reviews I have read, it breaks. I too got the lens error after no apparent reason. I packed it up and sent it to Nikon and was informed that it appeared to have user damage. They wanted to charge me more than I paid for the camera to fix it. This camera is not what I would call reliable or durable. Nikon does not stand behind it at all.

 "Cool Camera, lousy warranty" 2009-07-30
By pam schirmeister
I bought this camera last Christmas, and while on a trip this summer, the camera stopped working while it was in my hands. One minute I was taking pictures, the next minute, a lens error message appeared. I sent it back to Nikon and was told that lens errors problems were not covered under the warranty and that the charge for repair would be more than the original cost of the camera. Period. I have other much more expensive cameras and have sent some of them back for work (Oympus and Canon), and have never had a problem with the warranty. It made me realize that the warranty is as important as the product. If you're thinking of buying this camera, just hope that it never has any problems because if it does, Nikon may not be very reliable about backing up their "cool" cameras with very cool service or support.

"Very Useful if You Use Liveview" 2009-10-05
By S. A. Eideh (Qatar)
Honestly I wasn't going to get this due to the high price, although I spend a lot on camera gear. That was until I had to shoot Jewelry and decided to use live view on my D700. The fact that you can fine tune lighting and focus, and see it on a computer screen at the same time(I was tethered on a laptop) was extremely helpful. However, my batteries were running out of juice like crazy, I had to keep one on the charger and one in the camera all the time. Live view will suck the life out of your batteries. It's just I don't understand why do we have to pay 80 USD for a power cable. I tried finding aftermarket products but couldn't find any, so I had to bite the bullet.

"How about a decent price and some compatibility?" 2009-07-10
By But I'm feeling much better now... (Chicago, IL United States)
$80 is a bit much for a simple AC adapter, but anything that says Nikon on it is tripled in price. It's either buy this or wear out $40 batteries. What really gets me is having to buy two of them. I bought the model (EH6 I believe) for my D200 and then I had to buy this one when I upgraded to a D300. You would think that the 2 cameras are so similar that they would use the same voltages.

But, I guess if you want to play with the big guys you have to pay the price.
