 "Do-It-All-In-One" 2010-03-31

By Jared S. James (Las Vegas, NV)

The new Nikon 18-200mm VR II lens is fantastic. Granted, it really is the same as the older 18-200mm, just with the 18mm lock switch, which is appreciated. I have several fixed focal length lenses (the 35mm 1.8g and the 50mm 1.8d) and this lens almost makes images that are as sharp as those. The only reason I use those lenses is for low-light, or certain depth of field images. It is a great do-it-all lens. It has a great focal range, going from wide-tele. Although I definitely still pull out my 10-24 quite regurlarly. The build quality is what you would expect for a Nikon above average consumer product. It feels very solid, and generally handles great. I have not had any creeping problems like others have, but I certainly don't doubt their dilemnas.

I would highly recommend this lens for amateur-semi-pro photographers. The price tag is definitely steep, but as you start shooting with it, you will love the flexibility it gives you in framing and composition of your images. If your on a budget, go for the 18-55 and the 55-200. These lenses cover the same focal length as this lens, for less than half as much. The image quality will be probably about the same, but you will find yourself getting frustrated with having to change your lens all the time. It's great to just have an all-in-one solution like this. Figure out what you need, and don't be pushed around by other people's opinions.

 "Satisfied Customer" 2010-03-31

By R. Lindahn

This lens is the only lens you will ever need. I am sensitive to the possibility of getting dust on the sensor so I really like this lens - I never take it off of the camera. Wide angle to telephoto it serves my every need - from portrait to landscape, products to wildlife. It is not the fastest, widest or longest, but it easily handles 95% of basic needs and the convenience, flexibility and cost of this lens more than compensates for the 5% I choose to miss.

 "NIKON 18-200 VRII" 2010-03-30

By S.R.R. (Rowlett, Tx USA)

Great all around lense. I think, for me, the advantages of this lense out weigh the size/weight of the lense. I also have the 18-70 and 70-300 lenses, but I'm sure I'll be using the 18-200 95% of the time. Extemely happy with it.

 "Great lens!" 2010-03-29

By J. Martin (SF Bay Area)

I purchased this lens with my new D90 body back in February of this year, and I love it! I came from the D40 w/ kit lens world, and (although that is also a good setup) I've been impressed with the increased performance I've achieved with this lens. The VR II feature is great; I went hiking through fairly dense trees and vegetation (dark enough to require ~60th shutter speed and below, and with the VR feature turned on the vast majority of my images came out tack sharp. Highly recommend this product!

"The best lens for travel and photo walk" 2010-03-26

By T-banc (Chile)

It's perfect, good quality and nice pictures. I don't have problems with creep (maybe other user have a little bag to carry the camera) and the lens is soft to adjust. Fast autofocus and good design. I used it with my Nikon D60 and D90. I recommend this lens to everyone (some friends also bought this lens).
